Art of Computer Programming: Volume 2 is a book on computer programming. The book was well received by the industry and continues to be hailed as one of the best book ever written on computer programming.

The second volume of Art of Computer Programming deals with seminumerical algorithms. These seminumerical algorithms are covered by two chapters. The first chapter is Random Numbers. This chapter is divided into 6 parts, which are the Introduction, Generating Uniform Random Numbers, Statistical Tests, Other Types of Random Quantities, What is Random Sequence and the Summary. In the section that deals with the generation of random numbers, the book deals with various methods that can be used for the purpose of random number generation, with a special focus on the Linear Congruential Method. The book also describes the procedure for the study and analysis of random data.

The second chapter deals with Arithmetic. The section is divided into seven different segments, which are Positional Number Systems, Floating Point Arithmetic, Multiple Precision Arithmetic, Radix Conversion, Rational Arithmetic, Polynomial Arithmetic and Manipulation of Power Series. The book talks extensively about the accuracy of floating point arithmetic and ways to improve upon it.

The third edition of Art of Computer Programming: Volume 2, written by the programming legend Donald Knuth, was published by Dorling Kindersley Pvt. Ltd in 2005 and is available in paperback.
